Brother Model 1241 Sewing Machine
This Brother Model 11241 sewing machine is an attractive and well built machine. It doesn't have any plastic parts that we can see, including gears. It sews straight stitch and zigzag.
It also does a stretch stitch as selected by the sliding knob on the machine's top-front (just above the red panel). Stretch stitching adds stretchability to the seam permitting it to float with the fabric. This feature causes the needle to not only move from left to right (zigzag) but also move the fabric forward and backward.
It has the capability to lower feed dogs by depressing the button on the right side of the bed.
However, for us, it isn't a machine that we care to use. The major complaint is that the needle rides to the left of the presser foot making it difficult to obtain a 1/4-inch seam allowance.
