Beige and Tan Sears Kenmore 158.470 Sewing Machine

This Sears Kenmore 158.470 is one of Jim's favorite machines. Rather than listen to the klunk, klunk of plastic machines, this machine purrs.

Our machine is in excellent condition as can be seen by the hand wheel's condition. A nice feature is spool pins made of springs that can withstand bending. It is very heavy whch reduces vibration to a minumum. In fact, we reallly appreciate the quietness.

Jim plans to make a case for this machine after completion of a dovetail class at the John C. Cammpbell Folk School later this year. We have a stack of cherry wood and believe it would make a perfect container.

Slide Plate

The Kenmore uses a vertical bobbin contained within a bobbin case.

Our Kenmore 158.470 was made in Japan.

Access for Cam Installation

The image above shows the opening where cams are inserted. We don't have cams for the machine and are hoping to find several.

Controls are straightforward. The two chrome knobs and lever control stitch width. The large round knob regulates stitch length. Depressing the round button marked "R" causes the machine to sew in reverse.
